Dit album op 2 Blu-ray bevat de balletproducties van The Royal Ballet en het Dutch National Ballet onder choreografie van Christopher Wheeldon. Met de balletten Cinderella en Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland biedt deze uitgave een moderne interpretatie van klassieke verhalen, uitgevoerd door gerenommeerde dansgezelschappen.

De muziek is verankerd in de klassieke en hedendaagse stroming van de westerse kunstmuziek. De composities combineren traditionele balletmuziek met eigentijdse invloeden, waardoor een levendig en toegankelijk karakter ontstaat dat past bij de verhalende en fantasierijke elementen van de voorstellingen. Dit resulteert in een unieke muzikale sfeer die zowel kenmerkend is voor het genre als vernieuwend werkt.

De release verscheen in 2023 en toont de samenwerking tussen The Royal Ballet uit Londen en het Dutch National Ballet uit Amsterdam. Beide gezelschappen staan bekend om hun technisch hoogstaande uitvoeringen en artistieke interpretaties van het balletrepertoire. De muziek werd speciaal voor deze producties gecomponeerd en sluit nauw aan bij de betoverende en kleurrijke choreografieën van Wheeldon.
