Omschrijving

De première van Adolphe Adams 'Giselle' op 28 juni 1841 in Parijs was een absolute triomf en sindsdien wordt het beschouwd als een meesterwerk in de canon van klassieke balletvoorstellingen. Het thema van Giselle, onmogelijke liefde, is relevant voor alle tijden en culturen. Giselle gelooft dat ze in Albrecht haar ware liefde heeft gevonden, maar hij is niet de persoon die ze dacht dat hij was - in feite is hij verloofd met iemand anders. Albrechts liefde voor Giselle heeft fatale gevolgen, maar zelfs in de dood is Giselle nog in staat tot liefde en vergeving. Deze productie van Het Nationale Ballet van Rachel Beaujean en Ricardo Bustamante blaast Giselle nieuw leven in, maar blijft trouw aan het origineel, met adembenemende decors en kostuums en etherische schoonheid. Dirigent Ermanno Florio leidt het Orkest van Het Nationale Ballet.
