Marco Spada – The Bandit’s Daughter is een Blu-ray-uitgave van het Bolshoi Theatre waarin de gelijknamige balletscore van componist Daniel Auber centraal staat. Deze productie behoort tot de romantische ballet- en operatraditie in de klassieke muziek en is door choreograaf Pierre Lacotte speciaal voor het Bolsjoj hercreëerd als groots, verhalend ballet vol virtuoze dans en kleurrijke orkestrale klanken. De muziek, oorspronkelijk geschreven voor een opéra-comique, ademt de elegante, melodieuze stijl van de 19e-eeuwse Franse romantiek en wordt gebracht met de theatrale flair die bij het genre past.

De uitvoerenden op deze uitgave zijn het Bolshoi Ballet en het Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra, onder leiding van dirigent Alexey Bogorad. Tot de solisten behoren onder anderen David Hallberg, Evgenia Obraztsova, Olga Smirnova, Semyon Chudin en Igor Tsvirko, die samen een rijk geschakeerd ensemble vormen in deze combinatie van dans en muziek. De release verscheen in 2015 en presenteert het werk in hoge beeld- en geluidskwaliteit, waardoor zowel de choreografie als Aubers partituur volledig tot hun recht komen in een hedendaagse, maar historisch geïnspireerde interpretatie.
